چکیده
The need to improve the understanding of properties cement-based materials calls for development tools visualizing and quantifying chemical reactions flows fluids within them. In this paper, we report results an experimental study where a sample fractured cement-paste was subjected injection (krypton, CO2 water) imaged simultaneously by X-ray computed tomography (CT). Initial porosity estimated using subtraction method based on CT scans taken initially during krypton injection. reconstructions were segmented visualize crack patterns fluid flow in three-dimensions quantify evolution experiment. show that captures formation carbonate phase injection, water media. We reduction resulting from carbonation reaction. observe newly formed carbonated layer impedes and, locally, can lead healing. demonstrate ability image reactive transport materials, support feasibility imaging tool their characterization.

Tracer transport in a fractured chalk: X-ray CT characterization and digital-image-based (DIB) simulation
A digital-image-based simulation methodology is applied to evaluate the influence of heterogeneous porosity on the evolution of tracer concentrations in imaged tracer tests. Maps of computed tomography (CT)-number are calibrated relative to average porosity, and then thresholded to define porosity maps. These data are then used to automate the distribution of parameters within a finite element ...

The extension of limits of X-ray imaging techniques – in terms of spatial and temporal resolution as well as of material contrast – in the energy range from 5 to 70 keV has long exclusively taken place at third generation synchrotron beamlines. Yet, by using the latest generation of lab-sources together with novel X-ray detectors, results from microas well as sub-micrometer imaging are obtained...

Introduction: Head-and-neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer worldwide with the number of cases consistently increasing in developing countries. Successful development of effective, safe and cost effective nanoprobes for head-and-neck cancer targeting imaging is a big challenge. This study is aimed to develop cysteamine-folate conjugated gold nanoparticles (F-Cys-AuNPs) a...
متن کاملThree-dimensional Analysis of Cement-based Materials by Means of X-ray Tomographic Techniques
The knowledge of the microstructure of cement-based materials plays a fundamental role in predicting their macroscopic mechanical properties and durability. Nowadays, X-ray computed micro-tomography (X-μCT) provides a completely noninvasive tool for investigating, in a three-dimensional way, the inner structure of such materials, with spatial resolution down to the micrometer scale. However, du...
